If you surf in the Southern California area, you should know that you’re surfing with great white sharks. It’s not a bad thing — it’s not even likely you’ll ever even notice one. But they’re there, cruising around beneath your dangling feet, looking for a morsel of something made of meat. Not your dangling feet, though. The majority of those bites have proven to be the shark equivalent of us licking a spoon to see what’s on it. Sharks, unfortunately, are unaware that they are incredibly strong and have incredibly sharp teeth, so when they lick the proverbial spoon, it’s often life-threatening to us. But they’re there, alright.
Proof? As if you needed it, but Carlos Gauna (a man who has provided proof over and over and over again) spotted a whole bunch of them “just chilling with surfers” in San Diego. He did it with the help of a 10-year-old boy named Elijah, who wrote Gauna a message after watching his videos. “After meeting Elijah and his parents,” Gauna said, “we set out on mission to film sharks in the area. Both of us equipped with our drones, we captured several surfer and shark encounters.”
