The first women’s event at Pipeline is complete and Moana Jones Wong just officially became the best female Pipe surfer in the world. Despite being a wildcard, her win wasn’t a complete surprise. Jones Wong is a regular out at Pipeline (many considered her the best before the contest made it official) and has been stacking clips there for the last couple of years. Her knowledge of the wave runs deep. Hence, why she was able to come away victorious this weekend. With Kelly Slater’s win at almost 50, it’s been a historic couple of days on the North Shore.
