Kai Lenny just won the Puerto Escondido Challenge. If you missed it, you blew it–it was a phenomenal day of big wave surfing.
As with most big wave events, the spotlight wasn’t really on the winner, although taking home a win from Puerto is surely something to be happy about. Instead, the focus was on the waves. The competitors have a different mindset in BWT events than regular surfing events. It seems to be more a celebration of the ride itself than a win-by-any-means-necessary thing.
