Now this is surfing – but surfing on the biggest surfboards I’ve ever seen! These boards are commonly referred to as “SUP Squatches,” made for group paddling efforts that, well, don’t always go well, especially in Southern California beachbreak. They’re up to 18-feet long and super hard to control (especially without fins), but every surfer had an absolute blast.
I headed down to the Manhattan Beach pier on the 4th of July to witness some people, straight-up having fun on these enormous surfboards. I hope you enjoy. There was a lot of carnage.
