July is already upon us and the 4th of July is just two days away. If you’re wondering how to celebrate, we’re of the opinion that a trip to the beach is always a good option. Catch some rays, chase waves, and watch the fireworks with the sand between your toes. We’ve rounded up some of the top beach destinations to visit this Independence Day.

Myrtle Beach 4th of July

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Home to 60 miles of coastline, Myrtle Beach is an epic east coast destination. For the 4th, festivities include a 5k race, multiple parades, and fireworks shows in Myrtle Beach, Cheery Grove, Murrells Inlet, and, North Myrtle Beach. If you’re looking to catch some waves in the Atlantic during your stay, 29 Avenue South is a great spot to paddle out during a south swell.

Cocoa Beach, Florida 4th of July

Cocoa Beach, Florida

Known for its beaches and surf, Cocoa Beach is a great pick for celebrating the 4th. Cocoa Beach offers three days of festivities surrounding Independence Day. On July 3, fireworks will be launched over Port Canaveral. On July 4, there will be a fireworks display at the Cocoa Riverfront Park. And on July 5, there will be a show over the ocean. If you’re looking for waves, paddle out at the Cocoa Beach Pier and be sure and visit the famous Ron Jon Surf Shop while you’re in town.

San Clemente, California 4th of July

San Clemente, California

If you find yourself in southern California on the 4th, San Clemente is a great place to celebrate. San Clemente boasts four miles of sandy beach and is home to world class surfing. Paddle out at Trestles or T-Street if you’re riding a shortboard, or shoot down to San Onofre State Beach to do some logging. Fireworks start at 9 PM from the San Clemente Pier. If you’re feeling adventurous, paddle out at T Street and watch the show from the water.

Lake Powell 4th of July

Lake Powell, Utah & Arizona

An artificial reservoir on the Colorado River in Utah and Arizona, Lake Powell is the perfect destination for an inland 4th of July celebrations. Lake Powell is a popular vacation destination and is a fun spot to wakeboard, water ski, wake surf, paddleboard, kayak, and more. For the 4th, there will be a parade in Page as well as family activities like flag raising, watermelon eating contests, three legged races, hot dogs, and more. Fireworks will be launched from the Lake Powell National Golf Course at 8:45 PM.

Lahaina, Maui 4th of July

The historic town of Lahaina in Maui is a popular tourist destination due to its stunning beaches and fun surf. The most popular surf spot in the town is the Lahaina Breakwall, which is situated between the Lahaina Harbor and the 505 shopping center. For the 4th of July, there will be live music in Campbell Park beginning at 5 PM and a firework show starting at 8 PM.

Montauk, New York 4th of July

If you’re looking to visit the Hamptoms without the mayhem, Montauk is a good bet. Located on the east end of the Long Island peninsula, Montauk is a great escape from The Big Apple. Popular surf spots include Ditch Plains, Camp Hero, Turtle Cove, Gin Beach, and Kirk Park Beach. Hop onboard a local fireworks cruise or post up on the beach to watch the show.

Virginia Beach 4th of July

Located in southeastern Virginia, Virginia Beach is situated where Chesapeake Bay meets the Atlantic Ocean. The coastal city has a bustling boardwalk, a rich history, and countless restaurants to choose from. If you’re looking for waves, the 1st Street Jetty, Virginia Beach Pier, and Croatan are popular spots. For the 4th, there will be live music, activities, and fireworks at Mount Trashmore.
