The Inertia

Alison’s Adventures Maldives is a short film for the entire family, and one that touches on a very serious topic — exposing the global issue of plastic pollution. I explore this topic through my wild adventure back to the Maldives, where I survived Discovery Channel’s Naked and Afraid to visit the forbidden Trash island.

If this film touched your heart, or made you go, “holy crap that’s a lot of plastic,” then please join me in taking steps to reduce this plastic pollution. It’s up to all of us as individuals to be the change we want to see and keep our surfing playgrounds, and fish, clean for our future generations!

All trash collected in the Maldives is taken to Trash Islan”, or Thilafushi, an island landfill made entirely of waste that stands as a sort of eerie, apocalyptic art piece. Every country has their landfill and thus this is not a condemnation of the Maldives, but meant to spotlight a larger, global pollution problem and the fact the the plastic waste is floating in from all over the world and destroying paradise! This is not a Maldives issue, this is a GLOBAL issue — and a very serious one as the plastic breaks down, absorbs deadly toxins, is eaten by fish, and then by us!
