The Inertia

Is your passport collecting dust? It’s easy to get caught in the 9-5 work grind. Day in and day out, your life gets stuck in the same routines, dulled by monotony and habits. There was a time you used to surf more, a time when sun-soaked and noodle-armed days were commonplace. You need a few days where your biggest dilemmas are what surfboard to use and which beers to drink. It’s time you book a surf trip.

1. Surf trips are good for your health. People who take vacations experience lower levels of stress and less risk of heart disease. Your body needs rest and relaxation, and spending hours in the ocean will heal the body and mind. Salt water soothes the soul as well.

2. Surfing around the world can help clear your mind. You will have a better outlook on life and a more positive attitude. Booking a trip and enjoying a vacation away from the daily grind will motivate you to achieve goals and increase productivity in your life.

3. Planning a surf trip will cause a big boost of happiness in your life. You will have something to dream about on those long days at the office. Little dramas will not seem as important.

4. You will be working towards a goal. The hours spent at work have another purpose. It is easier to miss waves while at work when you know you will be scoring on your next trip. Fear of missing out is replaced with dreams of dreamy days.

5. A surf trip will encourage you to break out of your shell and embrace new cultures. You will learn about others and learn to see situations from different perspectives.

6. You will come home stoked. After a good surf trip, it’s impossible to stop smiling. Your tan will also be the envy of the office… until you tell everyone about the next trip you are planning.

It’s like Jack Kerouac said: “Live, travel, bless, and don’t be sorry.” And besides, what else are you going to spend your extra money on?
