Sometimes the names people come up with for creatures make no sense. Especially in the english language, with all its subtle nuances, one would think that making up a new word for something wouldn’t be necessary. Of course, there are those times when someone comes up with a name that makes sense (sea cucumber and sea cow, for instance, although sea cow is more of a nickname), but those are few and far between.
