This is a time of year when most of us in the Northern Hemisphere get a little bored. The sun comes out and all but we can’t always say as much for the waves. So many of us, at least in the States, make a run south of the border because well, it’s the most accessible place littered with waves right about now.
But if we could really get away — if we could really afford any plane ticket and free ourselves of work for an undetermined amount of time, no family to stay home with or schedule to keep — we’d probably rather take that boat trip to the Ments. You know the one. It’s the same trip that churned out magazine after magazine cover during this season for decades. It’s the same boat trip that every brand sent their A-team on for photo missions and film assignments back when those were things were en vogue. The Mentawais boat trip is the trip we all dream of because it promised head high barrels, warm water, and beers with the crew at the end of eight-hour surf sessions. The Mentawais boat trip is the very thing that makes you hate life for the very simple fact that you’re not currently enjoying a Mentawais boat trip.
