Surfing big waves equals high risk and high reward. There’s no doubt about it. It’s a beautiful thing to watch from the safety of the beach or in this case, online. Yes, even in Southern California, the waves get larger than normal. And even without sponsor stickers on their boards, good surfers push it as hard as they possibly can. With varying results of course. Sometimes the tax must be paid in full. They know this – and still go. Because they love surfing for the sake of surfing.
That’s why I stitched together this four-minute edit that illustrates the power of surfers taking on the fury of big waves. A celebration of simply paddling out and taking off.
