Weird waves are probably more popular now than they’ve ever been. Ben Gravy and Dylan Graves are all over that train. Outside of the insular world of surfing, weird waves capture the eye of the non-surfing public, and inside our tiny world, river waves and iceberg waves and tidal bores are like circus freak shows: interesting because they’re so strange. Jamie O’Brien picked up on that and threw together a 3-minute clip of Waimea river wave surfing, and it’s proof that some of the coolest waves don’t HAVE to be in the ocean.
