The Inertia

When the sand, wind, and swell all come together at the Wedge, it’s a beautiful thing. A dangerous thing, but beautiful. A terrifying thing, but beautiful. But despite the dangerously terrifying nature of the place, a select group of people are absolutely in love with surfing the weirdest wave in Newport. And on June 4, they did just that.

Thankfully, Brent Weldon was there with camera in hand to capture the carnage and the glory that occurred. There were a lot of waves made but as usual, a lot more that weren’t. Wedge wipeouts are some of the best to watch, too. That’s kind of the great thing about the Wedge, though. It’s not about making the wave. It’s just about surfing it, whether you come out of the barrel or not. And we’re here for that.
