When Stevie Roberson, a.k.a Baby Steve, was 10 years old, he surfed Jaws for the first time. That, if you’re generally unaware of things, is very young to surf Jaws for the first time. Over the next few years, it became obvious that Steve Roberson was going to mark a real mark at Peahi. And on Friday, he made his intentions clear.

“Giant Black Friday swell at Jaws/Pe’ahi!,” wrote Travis Morrin, who shot the photos you see above, on Instagram. Fifteen-year-old @steveroberson__ charging some of the biggest waves of the day.🤯 Sets looked to be 40 to 50 feet.”

A who’s who of the surf world came out in the comments section to express their admiration for Baby Steve. “The kid is soooo gnarly!!” wrote Matahi Drollet, who knows a thing or two about the meaning of the word gnarly. “Legendary,” wrote Jamie O’Brien. Kelly Slater weighed in, too, writing simply, Incredible. 👏🏽”

Baby Steve comes from a long line of Jaws surfers, including his father, his uncle, and even his grandfather. The young Roberson is carrying on the tradition in the best way possible, and we’re excited to see what the future holds for him.
