There’s certainly some maturity in Sierra Kerr’s surfing. That’s to say, her style and development are beyond anything you’d expect from a 12-year-old, regardless of where their genes come from.
Her father was certainly no one-trick pony on the tour but it’s no secret the elder Kerr was best known for his panache above the lip. So forgive anybody who would expect Sierra’s style to lean more toward that expertise as well. But no, while Sierra has some boosts in her back pocket, what really stands out about her surfing is the comfort with which she puts it all on those rails. There’s nothing timid about Sierra Kerr’s frontside rail game, which only makes you wonder how darn good it’s going to be as she progresses. Color us impressed. Sierra Kerr is one seriously impressive super grom.
