The Inertia

It’s en vogue to complain about Mondays. You’ve just wrapped up two days of freedom and hopefully, if you’re lucky, you were clear of errands and responsibilities in those fleeting 48 out-of-office hours. But then you’re slapped with the reality that you must (most likely) endure another five days of laboring, grinding, clocking in, and commuting before welcoming another weekend. So yeah, it makes sense to resent Mondays a tad.

Of course, nothing’s stopping you from at least trying to get a quick dip on a school night or a few dawn patrol waves before heading to work Monday through Friday. But it’s just not the same. It’s not the same as a weekend with some swell. There just isn’t the same sense of freedom…and this weekend was one of those rare ones where a lot of special places lit up in the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. There were big waves, there were perfect, head high barrels, there were tow sessions.

If ever there were a Monday worth complaining about, it’s this one. Enjoy a few images from the swell that was.
