Elena Hight has seen it all in the world of pro snowboarding. She’s competed in the Olympics, won X Games gold, landed revolutionary tricks in the halfpipe. But perhaps her best trick has been her smooth transition from competitor to expedition athlete. If you know anything about snowboarding, you saw this coming. Elena fell in with the right crowd, the Tahoe-based crew that rides with Jeremy Jones. And so by no coincidence, Elena also happened to make the leap to Jones Snowboarding at just the right time in her transition.
The woman knows what she’s doing. And she’s so fun to watch ride. Inspiring even, especially for those looking to get into backcountry snowboarding. She’s a hero amongst heroes. These days, Elena mostly films, but she still managed to compete in and win, the Natural Selection Tour. It’s been one helluva transition for the uber talented rider.
We spoke with Elena about all of it and she gave us insight into what splitboarding does for her, and could do for so many more. Elena has also seen some pretty radical things go down in the mountains. She gave us a juicy little recap of the best snowboarding she’s ever seen. Enjoy the listen.
