The Inertia

Winter has had a hard time getting started this year in many parts of the Western U.S. But this week that could all change: after a series of storms that dropped cold, dry snow throughout the Rockies, Cascades, and Sierras, the trend will continue as the snowriding-specific site, Powderchasers.com, is predicting a whopping three-four feet in parts of the northern Sierra.

“The remainder of the week = DEEP for many spots in the West,” the site posted today. “A strong and moist system moves into the Cascades Wednesday/Thursday. Expect windy conditions Wednesday with heavy snow through Thursday morning (Winds decreasing). That system slams into the Sierra Thursday and Friday with several feet of snow. From there chase to Utah, Idaho, Wyoming and even Montana where some significant snow is likely Friday and Saturday….Expect 2-4 feet for the Sierra this week (Possibly higher amounts) including the Monday storm.”

Boom! Powderchasers also recommended parts of Oregon like Mt. Bachelor in the Cascades and California’s Mammoth, both of which could receive at least a foot, with the love spreading into Washington, Idaho, and Montana (accumulation totals are estimates, so it could go bigger). Go get some!
