The Bible says something about a foolish man building his house on the sand. It’s not meant to be literal (like EVERYTHING else in the Bible), although, like all the best sayings, it makes sense when taken literally. The sand bit is just one part of the saying, though—there’s a bunch of other stuff about the guy who builds his house on the rock.
“And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock,” said Matthew. “And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.” Ha, ha! What a dummy, that sand-building idiot!
Well, shit, Matthew was right! Whoever built this apartment building in Tenerife, Spain, apparently was up to date on his Biblical studies. Because although a truly massive wave tore off a few balconies, that building is built on rock, and it ain’t going nowhere.
