More than two years after former president Donald Trump left office, Americans continue to fight over his future. Even with skateboards.
A small pro-Trump demonstration near the iconic surf spot of Huntington Beach Pier turned into a violent confrontation on Saturday when two Trump supporters were smacked in the head with skateboards, the Los Angeles Times reported.
A group of about 50 demonstrators waved “Make America Great Again” flags and chanted “God bless Trump!”, protesting Trump’s indictment by a New York grand jury last week. The exact criminal charges remain unknown, but they likely involve a hush money payment made to porn star Stormy Daniels during Trump’s 2016 campaign.
It’s the first time in U.S. history a former president has been indicted on criminal charges — and Trump’s supporters aren’t happy about it.

Several of the demonstrators, who had gathered in Pier Plaza, called the news a “fake indictment” and “just a sham,” the LA Times reported.
The protest turned violent shortly after noon, when a man leading chants was hit with a skateboard, receiving a head wound that caused blood to pour down his face, according to the LA Times reporter on the scene.
The newspaper reported two people injured, but only one protestor was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, a spokesperson for the City of Huntington Beach, California said in an interview on Monday.
At about 1:30 p.m., Huntington Beach police arrested Daniel Salvador Angulo Serrano, a 33-year-old from San Bernardino, for suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon that’s not a firearm, the spokesperson said.
“It wasn’t a significant incident,” said Jennifer Carey, public affairs manager for the City of Huntington Beach. “Had this not taken place at a politically motivated rally, this probably wouldn’t have warranted that much attention…We’re not sure at this point as to the motivation or what led up to it.”
Trump is expected to appear in a New York courtroom on Tuesday to face his arraignment for the unknown charges, CNN reported.
More important, though, is whether we will now get a Trump skateboard parody following up on this most excellent, State of Surfing Address.
