A Russian tourist died last week after being swept out to sea while meditating on a yoga mat atop a large rock. The tragedy occurred on the second largest island in Thailand, where the woman had been vacationing with her fiancé.

As The Sun reports, the victim was Kamilla Belyatskaya, a 24-year-old aspiring actress from Novosibirsk, Russia. Kamilla was visiting the island of Koh Samui, where she went to the Lad Ko viewpoint to watch the ocean. CCTV footage showed her retrieving a pink yoga mat from her vehicle, before venturing out onto a large, partially submerged rock. Footage taken by onlookers showed her sitting on the yoga mat atop the rock, before a large wave suddenly swept her off and out to sea.

The Sun reports an onlooker swam out to try to lend assistance, but was unable to save her. Rescue teams arrived 15 minutes later, but were stymied by waves as high as nine feet, according to the New York Post. Belyatskaya’s body eventually washed up on shore two thirds of a mile away.

“On the day of the accident, my girlfriend said she was going to play tennis, but I did not know that she had stopped by to relax at the Lad Koh viewpoint,” Belyatskaya‘s fiancé, Grigorii Anokhim, told local news. “I only found out what had happened from social media. I was devastated and immediately went to the area to help look for her.”

Before the incident, Belyatskaya had posted about how much she loved the island of Koh Samui, writing, “This place, this rocky beach is the best thing I’ve ever seen in my life. Thank you, universe, for me being here right now.”
