Five days ago, Patagonia’s Reno office put out a call for help on its Instagram page as authorities searched for 32-year-old Courtney Bryan, who was last seen in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest September 23. Bryan, who works in Patagonia’s Reno repair center, was reportedly at the Hunt Hot Springs with her dog, Booch, a black and white border collie mix. Hunt Hot Springs is northeast of Redding, California between Interstate 5 and Highway 299.
According to police, Bryan was driving “a maroon 2004 Subaru Legacy with Nevada plates. She is 5-foot-5, 120 pounds with blond hair and blue eyes.” Bryan’s sister, Katana Curven, told media that Bryan was supposed to return September 27, but phone records show she last used her device to call or send texts on September 23. Neither the dog or vehicle have been found.
Curven posted a message to TikTok asking users to help her find her missing sister. “Hey TikTok, I need you guys to do your thing, please,” she said in the video. “My sister is missing, her name is Courtney Bryan.”
“She left her cat here at her apartment, so I know she was planning on coming back,” Curven told Dateline. “She loved her animals. And her plants. And would never leave them like this.”
Curven also told the NBC outlet that her sister was a free spirit and often traveled alone. She was apparently taking a break from work to grieve the death of her grandfather, who passed away September 16, according to Curven. Curven also said that Bryan was always one to check in and stay in contact.
The Inertia’s messages to Patagonia seeking comment were not immediately returned.
