Apparently sharks aren’t safe anywhere. According to Florida Highway Patrol, a shark was killed in a traffic accident when a truck carrying four sharks blew a tire and ran off the highway.
Authorities stated the big fish were being driven from Marathon, Florida to a New York City aquarium when the accident occurred, ejecting one of sharks on Interstate 95 in Volusia County, Florida.
“[The] tire blew out and we ended up in the ditch here,” passenger Frank Young said to WESH 2 News. “Accidents happen. We’re just glad everyone is OK,” said Young. Everyone but the shark, right Frank?
After the accident, a SeaWorld rescue team was called to the scene and transported the three surviving sharks. “They’re in good condition,” SeaWorld Rescue team member Jim Kinsler told WESH. “Nothing different from normal transport stress.”
