The 15th Annual Irons Brothers Classic was yet again another smashing success. Held down at at Kauai’s Pinetrees, the fun-filled day attracted over 200 competitors, all ranging from ages five to 12.
Ran by Phil and Danielle Irons, the parents of Andy and Bruce, said, “We are so grateful for all that RVCA did from the shirts to the posters and everything else. Again many thanks from all the Irons family. We also thank the other sponsors, the volunteers, and the community. It truly is my best day of the year.”
Bruce and his family attended, where his son Koby surfed against his cousin Axel for the first time in the Keiki division (5- to 8-year-olds). “It’s crazy to think that this contest has been going on for 15 years,” said Bruce. “It’s special to see the local community and all the sponsors team up with my family and friends to put together such a cool event for the kids of Kauai.”
Lyndie Irons, wife of the late, great Andy, was also extremely instrumental in the success of the event. “I am so incredibly thankful for all the sponsors and my family for making the Irons Bros contest such a fun event for our keikis,” said Lyndie. “It’s so wonderful to see our community come together and be so supportive of each other. Makes my heart and soul fill with joy seeing all the kids so happy and having fun. The sun was shining, waves were perfect size, and the water looked even more turquoise than ever. Loved watching my son Axel surfing his heat alongside his cousin Koby. Such a special day. We look forward to many years of the Irons Brothers classic. Thanks to all of the sponsors, including Billabong, Sun Bum, Tamba, and Von Zipper.”
