I recently had the opportunity to capture in video and stills of what I would call a real surf musician. Pete Allan is a local Sunshine Coast Muso, a passionate bodyboarder, and real beach culture kind of guy. His songs come straight from the heart which is laden with saltwater.
Pete has melded his two passions and has taken to riding his old guitars like a bodyboard. This has been a progression over a few years. There have been design and technique refinement, a few warped necks, and delaminated guitars along the way. We’re now waiting for the perfect hollow shore break day to get deeply slotted on “Old Red,” the surfing guitar. In the mean time, here’s a film clip I shot with Pete and a few stills of the crazy surf music fun so far.
