The Inertia

Recently I had a chat with epic local Jan Juc psych/rock band White Bleaches about their musical journey and what makes them tick.
Questions on flow down below-

Where do you guys come from and where did you meet?

Ant is from Melbourne but moved down to Jan Juc about seven years ago, Hughey and Tyler grew up in Juc and no one really knows where Jack is from…but we all met in Jan Juc. Some of us worked together and we all lived on the same street.

What got you guys involved in music?

We’ve all been playing since a pretty young age. Just something we love doing and when your mates are the same, it’s just a natural progression to start a band when you’re a bit bored I guess.

How would you describe your music?

Garagey-ish sorta psyche or something.

Where does the name of your band originate?

Over a skype convo at work. Tyler used to sit across from me and we would have chats on skype about the band so no one knew we were talking about band shit. We were just throwing around names and that wasn’t taken so that was it pretty much

What are your musical icons and influences?

At the moment we are listening to a lot of garage psych stuff from America and Europe.

What is your favorite song to play live and at what venue?

In the Night is pretty fun. It has a good bass line and drum beat that usually gets a reaction from the crowd.  Karova Lounge in Ballarat is sick.

What has been your biggest challenge as a band?

Time. We all work full time jobs so that is always hard finding time to jam, write, and record.

What’s been your favorite moment as a band?

Doing our first tour around Australia was fun. We supported Stonefield for about a month so every weekend was like a mini holiday.

What are your plans for the future, say 10 years down the road?

10 years down track…Ummm, dunno. Not sure what our plans are for next year even to be honest. Just see what happens.

If you could be any animal, what would it be?

A dog,  I love dogs.

Who would win a fight between Spiderman and Batman?

Dunno, maybe Spiderman only because he can shoot webs. That’s pretty sweet.

Any last words?

Keep an ear out for new stuff in a couple of months.
