What can we do with creativity? Could we use it to actually make change or should I say, “Make Waves”?
Art strives to arrest motion, feelings, thought and more… how the work is used can matter as much as the result of the the work itself. The extremely talented selection of artist and creatives involved in this project break down the lines of what art is and how it can be used.
With help from a few friends, we created a pop up art gallery at Radio Bar in South Beach during Art Basel with artwork from around the world. Including GSI art surfboards by Madsteez, Leza One and Reka as well as paintings, photographs, prints and sculptures form a plethora of remarkable artists from around the globe, each with their own unique style as well as direct major influences in their own respected networks and circles. All of the artists involved help to create the backbone of something special without even having direct contact to WAVES for Development other than their love, aloha, creativity and a common friend to bring it all together.
As the chaos of Art Basel started to die out, the waves and blessings made by the artist became more present. There was even an unexpected stint of swell that brought some fun surf to Miami as if to say thanks for coming. These images are a mere glimpse of Making Waves Art Basel Miami Beach. The Artworks are sold to benefit WAVES for Development in an annual Paddle8 Charity auction. Buy Art, Do Good, Make Change, Share Aloha!
