Well folks, with hurricane season officially in full swing and Father’s Day right around the corner, I wanted to announce the release of surfing’s newest, most exciting children’s book: Where Albatross Soar. Taking the reader on an epic journey through the mind’s eye of a young, inquisitive child who is fascinated by waves and those all-powerful storms that create them, Where Albatross Soar is a reminder of the magic and beauty that exists all around us.
My goal in writing Where Albatross Soar was to inspire future generations to encounter, explore, and experience the natural world around them – whether that means plunging into the ocean or opening their eyes to all the life that exists right in their own backyard. As a child, my greatest “discoveries” and life lessons took place outdoors, and I truly believe that the more children interact with nature, the more they’ll appreciate our environment and strive to protect it throughout their lives.
We live in a world where new technologies are invented daily and the tools with which we interact, learn and live are ever-changing. Yet, one remarkable fact remains certain: that we are at the mercy of Mother Nature and are forever awestruck by the humbling power and natural beauty that she affects us with each and every day. Where Albatross Soar draws on that simple truth, telling a tale of waves, storms and a particularly huge bird, through a pairing of words and imagery that I hope both parent and child will thoroughly enjoy!
