“I wanna love down on YOOOOUUUUUU.”

The Inertia

No. Freaking. WAY. That was the first thing out of my mouth when I saw that Carissa Moore was dipping her toes into musical waters. The happiest champ in surfing is singing on a title track with Kevin Okimoto, the guy who used to sing for the Opihi Pickers. I’m still pissed that those guys broke up, by the way. I loved them. I also love Carissa. So it stands reason (mathematics!) that when you combine two things I like, I should also like the third resulting thing. Like strawberry rhubarb pie and ice cream, or any move that Stallone does with Schwarzenegger. Yeah, I liked The Expendables. And The Expendables 2.  Yes, and The Expendables 3. I’m an idiot, and I’m ok with it.

So I love this. It makes me feel all Hawaii inside. And you know what? I was worried that maybe she’d suck at singing, and it would be embarrassing for everyone involved, like when Mr. T tried rapping. But she’s good! I mean, she’s no Freddy Mercury (and not just because she’s missing a mustache), but I’m not stabbing my ear drums with chopsticks and weeping uncontrollably in the corner. Well done, Carissa!

Want to hear it? Yeah, you do. Check it out on iTunes. Make yourself feel all Hawaii inside.
