This is me in the art studio...getting creative...and dirty in the process. Photo: Ghiglia
This piece is inspired by surf trips to Baja, Mexico. I've been going to Baja on expeditions since I was a young kid.
This painting is called Calico. It includes a lot of marine life indigenous to Southern California, like the Garibaldi in the foreground. The image actually evolved into the first t-shirt in The Inertia's Signature Series.
This is the final product of the art collaboration we did for the The Inertia's first Signature Series shirt. It should be available in a week...so be on the lookout!
This was my first peacock painting and one of the first paintings where I started to blend animal paintings with surf-inspired themes.
This painting is titled "Surfer Toes." I like how you can really see the fiberglass cloth coming through the colors and creating texture in this one.
This is a painting titled "Flamingo Diver." The theme of this painting is 1950s vintage Hawaii and Waikiki.
This is a painting I did of Lowers. I've been living in San Clemente my whole life and surfing Trestles since I was a kid. I did this painting to raffle off and raise money for the Surfrider Foundation to stop the toll road campaign.
Some of my favorite animals to paint are birds and fish. Perfect lineups don't hurt either.
The fiberglass cloth and resin technique shows well in this painting. I painted onto the fiberglass and then put resin over the painting.
"Baby Whale." This painting was intended to be a shark when I started, but in the process it morphed into a baby whale.
This is an over/under style I like to do with paintings of waves on top and ocean themes below.
Here's another lineup in that over/under style that includes indigenous wildlife.
When I think of the ocean, I always imagine pelicans gliding past me while I'm sitting waiting for my next wave. I really like to paint these unique birds.
