This week, Lindsey Vonn, who’s won four overall titles in world cup ski racing, announced that she had broken her arm while training at Copper Mountain in Colorado. Vonn fractured the humorous bone in her right arm.
“I had successful surgery last night in Vail and everyone took great care of me,” she said on her Facebook page. “While I am beyond frustrated by this latest setback, at least my knees are ok and I will return to the slopes as soon as possible, as I always do!”
She thanked fans for the support but the 32-year-old’s body has taken a pounding in recent years. Last season, in the midst of a chase for another overall world cup title, she crashed in Andorra and suffered a hairline fracture to her knee that knocked her out for the season. Vonn, the best American ski racer of all time and easily the best female racer in history, has 76 world cup victories and is chasing Ingemar Stenmark of Sweden with 86 victories for the most titles of any athlete, male or female.
Vonn released a new book this fall, Strong is The New Beautiful.
Gonna need a lot of cocoa butter to get rid of this scar… 😕 pic.twitter.com/oIQGfVIYmk
