Oh to be snowbound at Alta or the ‘Bird Monday as Utah Department of Transportation
officials set off “multiple” slides, like this one, closing the road in Little Cottonwood Canyon to control avalanche conditions made dangerous by the large amounts of snow recently.

“We`ve triggered 40 slides right now. Seven or eight of which are going over the actual road itself in the canyon,” John Gleason, UDOT public information officer told the local Fox News station. “It`s about as bad of conditions as our folks have seen there in some time.”

The road up Little Cottonwood was closed all day Monday as crews worked, leaving skiers and snowboarders lucky enough to be staying up in the canyon with two mountains all to themselves and no additional riders able to access the resorts.
