Missoula, Montana (and especially the crew at Stongwater Mountain Surf Co.) is grooming a scene of river surfing frothers. Case in point, Cam Fuller and Grant Larson, Missoula man groms who are riding super-well right now on the multiples of waves featured on the nearby big-volume rivers.
And this spring has been a particularly good one. The Lochsa River, home of the iconically-fun “Pipeline” Wave” has been all time. It’s just over Lolo Pass, across the Montana/Idaho border from Missoula. So these guys surf the wave regularly.
The sport is kind of exploding on all the rivers in the Pacific Northwest. Fuller and Larson show us why.
