Hiroto Ogiwara is no stranger to accomplishing world firsts. In 2022, the Japanese snowboarder stunned the world when, in Switzerland, he landed a backside Quint Coke 2160 (five vertical and six horizontal rotations) at The Nines. He was just 16 at the time.
Ogiwara upped the ante this weekend in Aspen and stomped out another world first in the Big Air event — a 2340, which had never been accomplished by another snowboarder or skier. He hasn’t even celebrated his 20th birthday yet and he has two massive world firsts under his belt now to go along with the X Games gold medal he brought home.
Never. Been. Done.
The stomp heard ’round the world: Hiroto Ogiwara surprised everyone on the planet by stomping the first known 2340. Ski or snowboard, contest or practice. Needless to say the rookie won #XGamesAspen 2025 Big Air gold. Spinning into the future.@pacificobeer pic.twitter.com/KANiVk4Wbi

“I am the first in the world to do that. I’ve never been as happy as this,” Ogiwara told Kyodo News. “It was really the greatest moment. It felt as if I used every ounce of energy I had.”
World’s First
Miro Tabanelli landed the first 2340 in ski contest history and took #XGamesAspen Big Air gold in the process. It was a helluva weekend for the Tabanelli family: Miro’s younger sister, Flora Tabanelli, won Women’s Ski Big Air gold on Friday night. Miro’s gold came… pic.twitter.com/aEtVCoe1kv

Not to be outdone, Italy’s Miro Tabanelli matched Ogiwara the very next night in the Men’s Ski Big Air event. Tabanelli’s 2340 was the first ever in skiing and it locked up his first X Games gold medal.
“The vibe of X Games is unreal, the conditions were crazy, the final was the craziest final I’ve ever experienced – just savage,” Tabanelli said. “I am just really stoked about it!”
