The winter, as most of us know, has been a strange one. It started off slow, leaving many wanting during the holidays. But it’s come on big time since the New Year began, which makes organizers of The Natural Selection Tour look like geniuses. And maybe they are, counting on the fact that Revelstoke only gets better as the season goes on, thus making false starts like we had this year a distant memory.
Well, The Natural Selection Tour is on, and some of the best snowboarders on the planet – those that love to ride big lines like you, but maybe with a bit more “free” in their “freeride” – are in British Columba for the first event of the Natural Selection Tour.
Our man Mikey Nixon is reporting from the ground and he has raved about the conditions, and the playing field:
“The venue off of RMR isn’t nearly as gnarly as Boulder Park, where the action went down last year,” he wrote “But Dustin Craven (who helped with course design) – and the rest of the riders too – seem perfectly fine with that. ‘Not everyone got into snowboarding to feel like they were going to die,’ Dustin said.”
Today, we’ll see the qualifiers all the way down to the semifinals thanks to Red Bull TV, then finals day will be in the next few days with the recap broadcast coming April 4th. Unfortunately, finals results will not be released until that first week of April.
But today, get your fill. This venue looks fantastic!
