The Inertia

Elon Musk, it seems, has everything. And now he has a custom pair of Tesla skis from RENOUN, a high-end Vermont-based ski manufacturer.

RENOUN, you may recall, made these ingeniously-crafted skis to lighten the mood during the highly-polarizing 2016 elections between Trump and Hillary Clinton that featured the two candidates on the skis’ caps.

RENOUN is a high-end boutique company that utilizes award-winning technology (RENOUN won an ISPO Gold award for its core material, a big deal for such a small brand). But the company, lead by Cyrus Schenck, has always admired the work of Musk.

“Being a company centered around innovation, we’ve always had a soft spot for Elon Musk and the companies he’s created (SpaceX and Tesla),” Schenck told us. “We always felt that someone like the real life Iron Man should be on a pair of skis with futuristic technology—so we made him a pair and have been hunting him down for the last two years. We finally got connected to him and are shipping them out tomorrow. RENOUN’s tagline is ‘Rules are meant to be broke,’ and we have a little note to Elon printed on the ski that says, ‘for the man daring to break more than a few rules.'”

The Tesla owner is definitely a fan of snowsports. He announced an energy-saving partnership with Squaw Valley last year. “This guy’s a badass and he deserves badass skis,” Schenck said.
