Performance-wise, there is nothing mind-blowing going on in the clip you see above. It’s a very simple video; just a man, a board, and an untracked tree run. It’s pow surfing at its finest, and a very good visual representation of how it actually feels. It’s the glide.
Powder surfing is a relatively new piece of the pie. Using snowboards created specifically for powder that lack bindings, it’s an interesting throwback to the days when you’d try and stand up on your toboggan. “At the forefront of this movement is Jeremy Jensen, of Grassroots Powdersurfing,” wrote The Inertia’s Joe Carberry after trying it out for the first time. “Jensen has spent the better part of two decades developing his boards out of his garage in Logan, Utah and, while there are other versions and practitioners out there, he has literally helped create a mini-movement.”
