The Inertia

Austen Sweetin has a distinct style – compact, controlled, and always full send, there’s little doubt he’s one of the most fun freeride snowboarders in the world to watch on film. The man doesn’t need to sniff a competition to get his point across: shred hard, every damn day, and good things will come. Well, Sweetin spent all of last winter at home in the far Pacific Northwest, riding Mt. Baker and the surrounding area (the famous road gap is a fantastic opening testimony).

“In the 12 years that I’ve been fortunate enough to spend winters traveling the world to chase storms, this was the first year I was able to ride a full winter of storm cycles at my home in Washington,” he wrote. “The northwest corner of the United States is a unique place to say the least but no matter where I travel I find myself craving the harsh climates of the place I call home. There’s something special when it isn’t easy. Maybe it’s the consistent fight to score all-time conditions because they’re far and few between.”

Wind Slab consists of the best shots Austen captured over the course of a few days last winter while filming for his Boardslide Worldwide series. Enjoy.
