The Inertia

Liam Gratton has a death grip you wouldn’t want to mess with. The world saw it first hand recently when he clung to a chairlift at Table Mountain in Saskatchewan, Canada for nearly two minutes after slipping off the chair. Liam’s mom, Kaelah, told local media that Liam slipped from the chair by accident and was able to get his elbows locked on to the metal so he wasn’t gripping with only his hands.

You can hear onlookers cheering the kid on (in the most Canadian of ways) as well as his brother next to him, encouraging him to make it to the top. The young snowboarder looks as though he traverses a couple of hefty drops that would have been significant falls had he slipped off the chair.

“He’s 12 and he’s literally skin and bone and muscle,” Gratton’s mom said. “He’s very fit. I said, ‘Was that hard on your body? Were you tired at the end? Were your arms sore?’ At the time, he’s like, ‘No, I was fine. I just held on until my brother said that I could let go.’ ”
