John Muir has been dead for more than a century but the author, philosopher and “Father of the National Parks,” helped usher in the idea of protecting wild places with his advocacy and writings. The Yosemite Valley and Sequoia National Park are national parks because of Muir.
In this context, that’s where Jeremy Jones comes in, a modern-day snowboard mountaineer and innovative protector in his own right. Along with X Games gold medalist Elena Hight, Jones goes deep into California’s John Muir Wilderness. The full release is slated for later this fall showcasing the 40-mile, foot-powered journey that included several first descents, some radical scenery and a boatload of awareness and respect for what Muir achieved in his time on this beautiful planet.
