Have you been following the details of the Gwyneth Paltrow skiing lawsuit? It’s been mildly interesting. Paltrow, the actress come lifestyle coach, has been wowing gossip rags with her wardrobe. The back and forth – Paltrow and the plaintiff present the exact opposite story – has been enthralling most media outlets that hope it will never end, and the computer animated graphics are something to behold.
Quick recap: Terry Sanderson, a 76-year-old retired optometrist, says Paltrow ran into him from behind on the Park City slopes. Paltrow says Sanderson crashed into her, and adds that she was frightened at first when she felt skis go between her legs and a weird grunting sound. And now Sanderson wants $300,000 for his injuries and trouble, the details of which can be found here. Paltrow is keeping it simple: countersuing for one whole dollar plus attorney’s fees.
My takeaway? Neither come off as great skiers (they were both on a “bunny” slope), it’s he said, she said, with slightly unreliable witnesses, and these graphics used to describe the scene to the court (in the video above), whether AI or computer generated (what’s the diff.?) are pretty silly. Mind you they’re from Paltrow’s perspective, mainly that Sanderson clocked her from behind. You don’t need to watch the whole 10-minute vid. Just click to the animated parts.
The case has gone to the jury so we should know the verdict soon. Which will make a lot of people sad.
In the meantime, here’s another, less sober, recap, below.
