Antti Autti has done it all in snowboarding from contest chasing to peak bagging. The Finnish freerider recently started another project: Arctic Lines, where he’s attempting to ride 30 lines above the Arctic Circle. A feat that seems plausible given Finland’s proximity to Norway. In this episode, Autti features a retrospective look at being caught in an avalanche in a narrow couloir that nearly ended his Arctic Lines project early. Namely, how much risk is too much risk? As you can see in the film, it was an emotional event for the man.
“Is it possible to pursue a long career in freeriding, take on filming missions and expeditions, and do it all without getting hurt or exceeding the limits of our planet,” he asks. “With its inherent risks and demands, can freeriding ever be truly sustainable?”
