The Inertia

Red Gerard is in the prime of his career. And he’s only 21. The Mountain and Wave recently announced that it had signed one of the most gifted riders of this generation ahead of the 2021-2022 winter.

“US Open winner? Check. Dew Tour gold? Check. Signature Woodward terrain park named after the DIY backyard park of his youth? Check. Oh yeah, there’s that 2018 Olympic gold medal, too. And then he followed it all up by heading to the hills and putting out a backcountry video part in Joy, the 2020 Movie of the Year. But for Red, it’s just what he does. He’s humble about his accomplishments,” wrote Quiksilver in a release.

Despite his age, Gerard has been in the game forever. The signing by Quik was a wise one, to be certain, given the kid’s track record and standing in the industry. “Beyond grateful to join the Quiksilver crew,” Gerard said. “I think the team speaks for itself. I’ve been a fan of these guys since I was young and can’t believe I’m on a team with them! Excited to see what the future holds within Quiksilver.”

Quiksilver also announced its “Surf the Mountain,” campaign and collection, highlighting its trove of talented riders in tight mini parts.
