The Natural Selection Tour has announced its plans to return in 2024 with an expansion of its live competition from one day to two. Travis Rice, the defending men’s champion and mastermind behind NST, assured the crowd after the 2023 event that the Tour would “be back” but what we didn’t know at the time was that it’d come back with an expanded format.
The NST’s DUELS are is still intact, pitting 12 “challengers” against each other across six global locations in the coming months. In those competitions, riders will face off head-to-head at either Andermatt, Crested Butte Mountain Resort, Eleven’s Terrain Irwin, RED Mountain Resort, Durango/Purgatory, or an undisclosed location in Japan, filming video segments to be streamed globally in late February. The six winning riders will then be selected from those edits and earn a chance to compete in the expanded live broadcasted format in a weeklong mid-March window.
“Twenty-four riders drop first in either a magnificent backcountry zone in the Selkirk Tangiers Heli Skiing tenure or on the all-new, naturally enhanced and feature-laden Revelstoke Mountain Resort sidecountry venue,” NST announced in a November 1 press release.
The expansion of this segment comes with a second live event, where the remaining 12 riders will move on to the second venue and compete on finals day.
