Well, that’s probably not how she drew it up. Earlier this month, reality star (Naked and Afraid) and all-around bad-ass, backwoods woman Melissa Miller took a gnarly spill on her mountain bike in Utah. She posted the photos to her Instagram account and let’s just say, “that’s gonna leave a mark.”
According to her post, Miller had to get an ambulance ride back to the city for treatment at the ER. No doubt. The wreck left her mug fairly swollen. A close call for certain. “Helmets are not effective when you wear them loosely,” she wrote. “The swelling only sucks because it feels like it is pulling against the stitches keeping my upper cheek together.”

Ouch. She apparently got seven stitches in her mouth as well. Miller, a Michigan native, has starred on two seasons of the Discovery Channel’s Naked and Afraid and is a fairly well-rounded outdoorswoman. She works as a knife and gear tester for a number of outdoor companies. “I have done a pretty solid job messing my body up over the past several years,” she said. “Between survival challenges, outdoor sports, my outdoor work, crashing my motorcycle, and the long list of other things that fix my weird need for adrenaline, I have really taken a toll on myself.”
