It’s been a rough year for tourists in Yellowstone National Park. Officials have been dealing with an inordinate amount of chaos as park visitors have repeatedly been warned to stay clear of animals and other hazards. A father and his son placed a baby bison in a car that later had to be euthanized and a group of four men were caught on video walking across the sacred Grand Prismatic Basin hot springs which is off limits to tourists because of its delicate nature.

Then yesterday the Great Falls Tribune in Montana reported that a man in his early 20s fell into a boiling hot springs at Norris Geyser Basin while he was on a nearby boardwalk. He has not been located and is assumed to have perished. Park officials are still investigating.

The hot springs and geysers can reach incredible temperatures up to 200 degrees, which would literally melt the human body. Earlier in the week a 13-year-old boy was burned in the ankle and foot area after his father dropped him when he slipped and fell near the park’s Upper Geyser Basin.

Tourism can be a dangerous undertaking.
