The Inertia

California hasn’t exactly had the greatest collection of winters this decade. Between 2011 and 2015, the state was the driest it’s ever been since record keeping began back in 1895. Nobody’s been more aware of that than skiers and snowboarders. Most of those winters were dreadfully warm and dry, making this time of year kind of a coin flip. “Will there be snow?” It’s what Golden Staters ask themselves when the holidays hit and guess what? This year the answer is a resounding “YES!”

In fact, California’s winter is off to such a hot start (figuratively hot) that Mammoth Mountain marketing gurus are proclaiming the resort has the most snow in the country right now as the summit inches its way toward double digits (a few Colorado resorts might have something to say about that). The best part? We still haven’t even hit Christmas and it’s a safe bet that there’s more on the way.

So here are three minutes of proof that Mammoth is heaven right now.
