Spring is just around the corner, which is a fine time to be out exploring. But canyons and drainage areas are always dangerous. Water and earth can mix together to form a lethal combination of sliding debris that can easily carry animals, people, even buildings, away in an instant. No need to live in fear but being wary of draining water and flash floods, especially as we move into spring, is not a bad thing. Check out this massive mound of moving mud, rock and water that nearly swept a group of hikers away near Aconcagua in Argentina, the highest peak in the Americas at 22,841 feet.
