The Inertia

Summer is nearing its end. The heat. The smoke. All of it could soon be in the memory bank. Which means it’s nearly time to ride snow. Benny Milam, a Midwestern snowboarder, had a dream of riding the hills near Trollhaugen Resort in Dresser, Wisconsin. So he set up this insane line in the woods. Yeah, it wasn’t filmed in mid-summer. Just late last spring. But it’s sure to get you fired up for the upcoming season.

So how’d he get the snow into the woods? “Trollhaugen actually took all the snow from their park and piled it up in some shade, then put a bunch of hay on it to preserve the snow,” he said. “So every day they would fill up a truck with snow, drive it up the hill, and we’d fill up wheelbarrows and drag the snow in to the path. Then we’d add a little salt and it would turn to ice right way, it was kind of sketchy but also real fun.”

Milam certainly makes it look fun.
