Hammocks are all the rage this summer. Actually, lounging is all the rage and this handmade frame for hammocks–known as the Hammocraft–was designed in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. And it’s a perfect way to turn two SUPs into a party barge for an evening on the lake or in the back bay.
The frame is made from the same material used to construct oar frames for rubber raft set ups used while floating rivers like the Salmon, Snake, Rogue and other classic multi-day trips. But these babies allow you to trip out close to home. And paddle while you lounge.
Up to five nylon hammocks can be strung on the framing and the fledgling company says it can adapt its setup to rafts, duckies (inflatable kayaks) and drift boats, too. The framing is held together with simple “push-button connectors” and folds down small enough to fit in a case the size of a ski bag.
The hammocks attach to a slot and knot system so you can play with the height and release quickly in case of an emergency (like flipping the thing cause your buddy drank too much beer). Your SUPs–preferably inflatables–just became the key to an evening party or impromptu fishing trip. You’ll have to bring your own hammocks and boards. The frame retails for $1,000.
