The Inertia

There a lot of reasons I respect Gus Kenworthy. Not the least of which is his work ethic. But to interview the guy as part of the media, he’s always thoughtful, respectful even insightful about his athletic endeavors and his place in the sport. Then he gets on the hill and he’s just a beast. Uber aggressive, never letting off the gas pedal. And sometimes, that hard charging catches up with the Olympic silver medalist. Like in this edit, released this week of Kenworthy at his home mountain in Telluride, Colorado last spring. He went home to do a project and on the first day of filming, ate it on a gnarly-looking rail setup. That didn’t stop him: “One concussion, two lost teeth and three days later I went back up to hit the feature a few more times to try and salvage the last day of the shoot. The tricks we ended up getting weren’t quite what I had originally hoped for but I’m happy with how the video turned out considering the circumstances.”

He titled the edit, “Only Human.” But it proves even ‘super humans’ can have an off day.
